I spent a few months preparing to come to Amsterdam from the US. I arrived on January 1st, 2005. Prior to coming, I saw the Rokerij website and planned on visiting. I have been to all four shops. I have two favorites, the one near Muntplein is my 2nd favorite. The one in Leidseplein is my favorite. I was hoping to find work in Amsterdam and live here permanently. However, there isn't much work for an American and no one will help me so I can get a work permit. SO, I won't be able to stay, meaning I'll be going back to the States on March 31st. I really wish I could stay. There are two servers in the Leidseplein shop that are both absolutely amazing. I'm not sure how you spell either's name. They are Mica (or maybe Mijke, not sure) and Ruth. Both of these women are very sweet, very intelligent, very nice, and absolutely gorgeous. To each I'd like to say, je bent mooi en je hebt mijn hard gestolen. I hope I see each of you at least one more time before I have to go back to the States. Heck, maybe one will marry me so I can stay! Thanks for everything to the Rokerij staff at each store, love ya all, and am very grateful for the small kindnesses shown me to help make my stay here more enjoyable!

De Rokerij is the best shop in Amsterdam, the waitresses are incredibly hot, especially the tall one with long dark hair, a little tied to the back... I stopped in a couple of times in Feb. of 2004. This is by far the best coffeeshop i have ever set foot in. The weed is top notch, the staff is really friendly (The barmaid made me hand squeezed orange juice, YUMM!), the interior is the definition of chilled, and you can check out your purchace up close with the microscope right next to the dealers booth. I have told everyone i know about this place. Cant wait to come back in Oct. 2004!

Administrator Karen Tandy, and local U.S. District Attorney Ed Kubo by religious and medicinal consumers of cannabis. The suit seeks to enjoin the Federal government from arresting and prosecuting those residents of Hawaii whose religions and religious beliefs require the consumption of cannabis (the herb governments derogatorily label as �marijuana�). The lawsuit also seeks protection from federal prosecution for those citizens of Hawaii who cultivate, consume and/or distribute cannabis legally pursuant to legislatively enacted Department of Public Safety Narcotics Enforcement Division guidelines and valid patient/caregiver registration certificates. The suit was sparked by the recent arrest of a local Hilo THC Ministry Reverend, and the ensuing prosecution for cannabis cultivation by the U.S. Department of Justice. The case might actually succeed, based upon the recent ruling by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals (whose decisions serve as precedent in Hawaii) in Raich v. Ashcroft. Angel Raich and other Californians and caregivers can now consume and cultivate therapeutic cannabis absent the often realized fear of federal prosecution for their use of a non-toxic and natural herbal medicine. The Plaintiffs also rely upon the federal Religious Freedom Restoration Act to secure their definitive right to free exercise of religion. That Act was recently used to prevent the federal government from prosecuting a New Mexico based, Brazilian Uniao Do Vegetal themed religion for their importation and distribution of Ayahuasca, a powerful hallucinogen-laced tea from the Brazilian rainforest. According to Michael A. Glenn, Esq., the Hawaii attorney for the churches and patients suing Ashcroft, �The Federal Government has zero compelling interest in preventing either the religious or therapeutic consumption of cannabis by Hawaii�s citizens. More people died last month from eating peanuts, jaywalking or taking aspirin than have ever been harmed by cannabis in the entire history of its use. And, even if you take the federal government at face value and accept that they have the power and duty to protect one from one�s own folly, the mandatory terms of imprisonment faced by cannabis users have zero relationship to the goal of harm reduction and indeed smack of Draconian punishment for freethinking, non-violent Reverends and patients leading law abiding lives.� Local cannabis activist and founder of the THC Ministry Reverend Roger Christie is ready to change the government�s views on cannabis. �The conspiracy against marijuana will be replaced with the truth of cannabis.�

I lived in Amsterdam for 6 months and Rokerij was the ONLY koffie shop (thats dutch) that I would go to. The weed is AWESOME but pricy. They have no problem if you bring your own cheaper variety inside aslong as you keep the drinks full. I had visited them all and I have to say that the one on Singel 8 is by far the best. There is a mural on the wall that is totally wack when you are high. You can see some crazy shit. It is down and to the right of Amsterdam Centraal Station. Check it out. For REAL cheap weed go to the SpeakEasy in the red light district, and watch out for the "Charlie, Cokka, Extasy" hustlers! And if you are real lucky you may even see the transvestite male walking around the RLD with Benwaballs hanging out of his arse!!! have fun Peace....!

My two brothers and i visited the rokerij last august and found it very relaxing .The smoke was good and there was a good selection too. Will be returning again on weeekend of april 3rd-4th. Only one thing wrong and that was the excessively low seating as it wasnt very comfortable and didnt make rolling joints any easier either ( especially when you are dusted). The white widow was excellent and the moroccan hashish was good too .See you in april

First experienced the Rokerij on a frosty early morning in Jan 1997, It happened to be the first coffeeshop we stumbled upon, myself and my mate Pearse bought a couple of grams of 'Jack Herrer' and skinned a fat one each. An hour passed before we realised we hadn't said a word to each other. The next hour was a laugh and with numerous 'looza's' it made it an amazing start to a 4 years of living in holland - that I will never forget.

Me and a friend visited the rokery coffee shop in 1999. We travelled holland in that year. Now were back in S.A working like mad trying to make a living. We really miss Amsterdam and the rokery. Aloha fine folks of "De Rokerij," I had the fine pleasure of taking a "trip" to Amsterdam on my voyage to a Roger Waters concert In Koln last may. It was a wonderful thought to think that such a place can exist. It was also my first time to Amsterdam. I was amazed to see how a city can function so well with simple little changes like using bicycles as a main source of transportation. I also got to take in the Floriad. It blew me away. Not sure why cities aren't modelled more along the lines of Amsterdam. the happy traveller, J.K.E.

This is a great place to relax. Its hard to get a seat if you are with people but its worth the wait. The service is pretty good. Soemtimes you have to get your own but when the employees are that fine who cares! I hope it survives the new smoking rules that are going to be imposed by the new and hopefully for a short time, mayor.

Really enjoyed the Rokerij (apart from some of the seating - more big bean bags please!). Smoked Misty the whole holiday and now I don't think any grass/hash suits me better than Misty. Nothing negative about it at all, gave me a high that was perfect. Enjoyed the Rokerij version of Red Bull with my vodka. Can't wait to come back. SOOOOOOO COOOOOL... Loved this place, it absolutely made my two days/nites in amsterdam. I just loved the people, the laid back attitude and the INXS lookalike manager...luvly. I visited Amsterdam 4 the first time on 8th march.In the Rokerij 2 I had the best time because of the friendly and helpful people I meet many Americans and farmers I also smoked at least 7 different types of weed each one was fantastic!! I also love your flavoured teas. I will recommend this coffee shop to anyone I know visiting Amsterdam and will also return as soon as possible. I think I will have to come for longer next time. If there is one thing I learnt while in Rokerij is that I need to smoke more!! Its a shame that the quality over here is shit in comparison. A note to the American who said how shit this place was I meet Americans in there and they all loved it and didnt have any complaints I think it is you who is stuck up!!

Total shithole Worst coffee cafe in all of Amsterdam. Rude Staff, and the weed in the U.S. is better. The man with the red hair that sold at the counter on Saturday Feb 15, 2003 was not just the biggest asshole that we met in Amsterdam but probably the biggest asshole that we have ever met. You beleive that Americans are arrogant but this asshole redefined the meaning of the word arrogance. He thought the weed was going to be too strong for us Americans however his Northern Lights 5x was no better than the dirt weed that is easily available in the U.S.

I must say you dutch people ought to give more respect to Canadians. I spent a month in Holland last year and was appalled by your snobbery. If you don't know, in 1939 there were only 11 million living in Canada. Over one million volunteered to fight in WWII. Over 500,000 Canadians lost their lives for a fight that wasn't theirs. We didn't have to fight but we did. Unlike the Americans we fought since the beginning of WWII to the end and we didn't use nuclear bombs. If it wasn't for Canada's participation, you probably wouldn't even have your own country. That was only 60 years ago. Do you all forget so soon? What's the matter with you all? Bunch of snobby sissy bastards! Next time we will leave you to the Germans. My grandfathers both served in WWII and killed many Germans. What did your grandfathers do? Bunch of wankers. You show no respect. Next time a Canadian steps into your shop you should say something like "thanks for kicking Nazi ass" or "we appreciate you liberating our country" or "thanks for all the food and supplies after the war". You know, its just about respect. Canadian troops landed in Antwerp in 1943 and cleaved a way through German defenses all the way up the Rhine. They helped free the west coast of holland like the Hauge and Amsterdam. They also landed with the Brittish and Americans on Juno beach on D-day. The French still remeber it and still treat us like heroes. Are the French more hounorable than you? Canada is the second largest country in the world, we have huge forest and wildlife preserves. Its funny you mention the Cannabis Cup. You BOUGHT the cup handing out all that free stuff, umbrellas, fanny packs etc. act all nice, everybody taking pictures and video and happy! Go back in feb and they are the worst people ever, have a 5minute sign then make fun of people who enquire after 20 mins! My friend was threatened for taking video. What a wonderful coffee shop.....I was in Amsterdam for the August Bank Holiday & stumbled across this coffee shop & was delighted at the chilled out & fun atmosphere of the place! I will be recommending that my friends visit!! If you got to the the toilet in this place, beware of what you may be asked to do if you can't get the door open....my friend ended up spanking the barmaid with the bondage ropes hanging across the door as a price for her opening the lood door...!?!? I happened upon The Rokerij near the Munt one afternoon while wandering aimlessly. I had a great cup of coffee and enjoyed chatting with a friendly employee about Jamaican weed. My next visit, I witnessed an American tourist, with all of his luggage, smoke a sizeable bud through a bong, and immediately melt on the bench. Love the coffee shop,allways have done.I was kind of impressed to see one of your t-shirts being worn by one of the waiters out in Thailand...just goes to show that you guys are now truly global!!! The only downside being that when I came over last weekend it was packed all day long,obviousley good for business but not so much for me & my buddie when we had to sit on the floor!!!....Still,they say that all good things come to those who wait and after polishing off some of your nepalese cream some chairs finally became vacant so we moved in. ...The rokery?? Ive been around the world a few times now guys and seen some fantastic places but without a doubt that is my favourite bar anywhere......thanks for some good times!!!

I went into De Rokerij and left my bag. I went back after I realised and it was still there, there is NO WAY that woould happen anywhere else but here in Amsterdam. It seems we smokers have evolved to a much higher degree than the common folk. I love De Rokerij coffee shops, I will forever remember how beautiful and chilled out they were and made me feel. I am enchanted with my memories and shall retunr soon.

I visited the Rokerij on Amstel, it was mega-cool. I showed my friends the pictures I took of it and they thought I was in some museum rather than a coffee shop. I met lots of cool people at the Rokerij and I'll be back the next time I'm in Amsterdam (Late Setember). You guys have fine weit, especially the Himilayan Gold. Keep up the good work. Saminatrix.

I visited coffeeshop 1 and 2 when I went to Amsterdam last year and I have to say that they are clearly the best coffeeshops I went in. The atmosphere: ambient music, low lighting and also light colours slowly fading in and out. I can assure you that when I come back, and I am coming back soon, that I will be enjoying the Rokerij coffeeshops and enjoying the smoke even more. SMOKE ON!

I visited the Rokerij on my trip to Amsterdam. I visited #1 and it was the most beautiful coffeeshop that I went to durring my entire trip. The music was great, the decor was amazing and the staff was awesome. not to mention their fine selection of smoke. They made that part of my trip memorable. Smoking at the Rokerij was like a spiritual experience. keep up the fine job.

The BEST place in Amsterdam, IMHO. I loved the Bubblgum; my brother was partial to the White Widow ("it will f**k you up) or the Stardust. GREAT GREAT GREAT place!!!!!! Spent 32 days in the Marriott off of Leidse Plein. Frequented Rokerij throughout the stay. Very, Very Cool. A couple buddies of mine had found Rokerij when they were working in the Dam. Just got back from the Dam, where i found no coffee shop to match the all round quality of 'The Rokery'. The best astmosphere, tunes and of course weed, there was plenty of strains to choose from to satisfy any smoker regardless of the buzz you chase! Oh, before I forget, there is definitly no other shop in the dam with the same amount of stunningly beautiful waitress'. Nice one Rockery and thanx!!

The three of us went to Amsterdam in early December 2000 and smoked till we choked. The smoke in the rokery was amazin and the atmosphere was purely chilled out. Rokery 2 was our local for three days where we cained like we've never cained before.
